How to Ignore Glucose
If focusing on certain glucose readings feels unhelpful or stressful, you can temporarily ignore them so they do not influence how you review your data.
What “ignore glucose” is for
Ignoring glucose is useful when readings do not reflect your usual patterns, for example:
- Volatile readings during a sensor warm-up or calibration period
- Spikes or drops related to external factors like a sauna, hot shower, cold plunge, or very hot bath
- Short-term changes from illness, medications, or unusual stress
When you ignore glucose for a time range, Levels hides or de-emphasizes those readings so you can focus on the data that matters most.
How ignoring glucose works
You can ignore glucose for a specific date and time range. Once applied:
- Glucose for that range is visually de-emphasized on your glucose chart
- The range appears anywhere ignored glucose is listed or summarized in the app
- Other app features remain available so you can continue logging food, exercise, sleep, and notes
You can add new ignored ranges, review existing ones, or remove them later if needed.
Method 1: Ignore glucose from a lifestyle log
Use this method when you are logging something that explains why your glucose is temporarily unusual (for example, sauna, hot shower, cold plunge, illness, or a stressful event).
- Open the Levels app
- Tap the green + button on the main screen
- If you do not see lifestyle logs right away, tap Other log types
- Choose the relevant log type (for example, sauna, cold plunge, illness, stress)
- Set the start and end time for when the event happened
- Turn on Ignore glucose for that time range
- Add any notes you want to remember (for example, “sauna session” or “felt sick”)
- Tap Save
Glucose readings during that logged time will be treated as ignored.
Method 2: Ignore glucose from the glucose chart
Use this when you see a specific period on your chart you want to ignore.
- Open the Levels app
- Go to your glucose chart
- Tap on the time on the chart where you want the ignored range to start
- Tap the small + button that appears on the chart
- Select Ignored glucose range
- Adjust the start and end times if needed
- Turn on Ignore glucose for that range
- Tap Save
The selected portion of the chart will now appear as an ignored range.
Method 3: Use the Ignore Glucose manager
Use this when you want to review or manage all ignored ranges in one place.
- Open the Levels app
- Go to your glucose chart
- Tap the three dots (…) at the top of the chart
- Tap Ignore glucose
- To add a range, tap the + button, then set the start and end time and turn on Ignore glucose
- To review or change an existing range, tap it in the list to edit or remove it
Where ignored glucose shows up
Ignored ranges are visible in a few places so you can keep track of them:
- Ignore glucose screen: Shows a list of all ignored glucose ranges, including their start and end times
- Glucose chart: Ignored ranges are visually indicated on the graph so you can see where readings were excluded
- Lifestyle logs: When you ignore glucose from a lifestyle log, that time range appears on the horizontal timeline for that log
Managing ignored glucose ranges can help you keep your data focused on what is most representative of your day-to-day patterns, while still documenting events like sauna sessions, cold plunges, or sensor warm-up periods.
