If I have Medicare, will by Dietitian appointments with Season Health be insurance-covered?
FAQ:
If I have Medicare, will my Dietitian appointments with Season Health be insurance-covered?
Answer:
If you have Medicare, generally the ability for your Dietitian appointments to be covered by your insurance will depend on if you meet the specific coverage requirements, outlined below.
Medicare Coverage Requirements:
- Qualifying Health Conditions
- Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2)
- Chronic Kidney Disease (Stages 1-4)
- Referral from a Doctor
- Your primary care doctor or specialist must provide a written referral for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) services. They’ll determine if MNT is medically necessary for your care.
- Season Health's care coordination team will help facilitate this referral from your primary care doctor.
Medicare typically covers 3 hours of one-on-one MNT services in the first year and 2 hours in subsequent years.
What if Season isn't covered by my insurance? If your insurance does not cover Season, you can still schedule an appointment with a Season dietitian as a self-pay patient. The initial session is $225 and sessions after that are $75
