How to Remove your CGM

Overview:

Here's how to remove your CGM. Instructions vary depending on what type of CGM you use.

  For Dexcom G6 users:

  1. In the Dexcom G6 app, go to the main menu, scroll to the bottom of the menu, select "Stop Sensor", and select "Yes". After ending the session, you will be taken to the home screen, where you will see a "New Sensor" option. Proceed to step 2 below.
  2. Remove your Levels Performance Cover.
  3. Remove the CGM by gently peeling the edges away from the skin as you would a bandage. You can loosen a strongly adhering CGM by applying baby oil or vegetable oil for 5-10 minutes before removing it.
  4. Remove the transmitter from the holder by pushing down the lip of the transmitter holder and breaking open its wide end. Pull the transmitter out of the holder and keep it to use with your next sensor.

**REMINDER: Do not throw away your transmitter** You will reuse your transmitter with new CGMs until its lifespan of 90 days. We’ll make sure to send you a new transmitter in further subscription kits before your current one expires.

5.  Clean the transmitter with an alcohol wipe before applying it again.

6. Throw away the used CGM. They cannot be reused or recycled.

7. Wait 20 minutes before proceeding to step 8 below. This will ensure the sensor fully disconnects from the app before applying your next one.

8. Follow these instructions to apply and connect your next Dexcom CGM.

Note: It's ok to take a break between CGMs. The Levels app will be waiting for you when you're ready to continue. Keep in mind that CGMs have an expiration date, so make sure to use your CGMs before they expire.
