Stelo Biosensor Lifespan & Early Failures
Your Stelo biosensor is designed to continuously monitor your glucose for 15 days from the moment you apply it.
Stelo biosensor lifespan
- Total duration: 15 days (360 hours)
- Start time: The biosensor lifespan begins as soon as you apply and activate it, including the 30-minute warmup period.
- End time: The biosensor will automatically stop providing readings after 15 days.
When to apply a new biosensor
- Plan ahead: We recommend applying your next biosensor on day 15, shortly before your current biosensor expires, to avoid gaps in your data.
- Expiration notifications: You'll receive notifications in the Levels app as your biosensor approaches its expiration:
- 24 hours before expiration
- When the biosensor expires
- Overlapping biosensors: You can apply a new biosensor before your current one expires, but only one biosensor can be active and connected to your Levels app at a time.
Maximizing your biosensor's lifespan

Monitor adhesion
- Check daily that the biosensor remains flush against your skin.
- Address any lifting edges promptly with additional adhesive if needed.
What happens when the biosensor expires
When your 15-day biosensor session ends:
- The biosensor stops taking readings automatically.
- You'll see a notification that your biosensor has expired.
- Data collection stops completely.
- Remove the expired biosensor and apply a new one to continue monitoring.
