Calibration Period: The First 24-48 Hours of Your Biosensor
Your new biosensor might show unexpected readings, like values that are much higher or lower than you expect, or you may see occasional data gaps. Before you panic, take a breath. This is totally normal for the first couple of days.
Give it 48 hours
Your biosensor needs time to settle in. Think of the first two days as a “getting acquainted” period while it adjusts to your body.
Why this happens
When you first apply your biosensor, it’s adjusting to:
- Your unique body chemistry
- The insertion site
- Your interstitial fluid levels
During this break-in period, readings can be more variable than usual. Some people see unexpectedly high numbers. Others see concerningly low ones. It can feel like your biosensor is still calibrating.
What to do
Days 1–2: Hang tight, and avoid making major decisions based on the data.
Day 3 and beyond: Readings should be much more consistent. If you’re still seeing unusual readings or frequent data gaps after 48 hours, the biosensor may be having an issue.
