About Meal Scores

Meal Scores help you understand how your glucose responded after a meal, and where to find insights and recommendations in the Levels app.

What is a Meal Score?

If you have a Stelo biosensor or a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) applied and sharing data with your Levels app, you can see variations in your glucose levels throughout the day.

When you log a meal, Levels creates a two-hour Glucose Response window related to that meal, and to other logs created within proximity of each other.

Meal Scores summarize that response so you can compare meals and learn what works best for you.

How to view your Meal Score details

  1. On your Today page, scroll down to your Timeline.
    • Tap a meal in the Timeline.
    • On the next screen, select the response label (for example: stable, gentle rise, moderate, or big spike).
  2. Tap each of the three key metrics.
    • Glucose Increase: How high glucose rose
    • Glucose Slope: How quickly it went up
    • Area Under the Curve: How long it stayed elevated before returning to baseline
  3. Note the color-coding.
    • Green: Stable response
    • Yellow: Moderate rise
    • Pink: Significant spike
  4. Use the insights.
    • Each meal’s insight explains possible causes of the glucose response.
    • Helpful articles and suggestions may appear for more context.

Important context

  • Meal Scores are most useful when you compare your own meals over time.
  • Sleep, stress, timing, and activity can change your glucose response.
