How to Add Sleep Data

Sleep can affect glucose the next day. Adding sleep data helps Levels provide better context and makes it easier to see how good or poor sleep relates to your glucose patterns.

How sleep gets into Levels

You can’t log sleep directly in the Levels app. Instead, Levels reads sleep data from:

  • Apple Health (iPhone)
  • Health Connect (Android)

If your wearable or sleep app sends sleep data to Apple Health or Health Connect, Levels can import it and show it on your Timeline.

Sync sleep automatically

If you track sleep with a wearable or sleep app that connects to Apple Health or Health Connect:

  1. Make sure your sleep app or wearable is syncing to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android).
  2. Open the Levels app.
  3. On iPhone, go to Settings, then tap Connect Apple Health.
  4. On Android, go to Settings, then tap Connect Health Connect.
  5. When asked for permissions, turn on Sleep (or tap Turn On All).
  6. Wait a few minutes, then check your Timeline in Levels for new sleep entries.

As long as your sleep source is writing to Apple Health or Health Connect, new sleep data should appear in Levels automatically.

Manually add sleep on iPhone (via Apple Health)

If a night of sleep is missing, or you don’t use a connected wearable, you can add sleep manually to Apple Health, and Levels will import it.

  1. Open the Apple Health app.
  2. Tap Browse (bottom right).
  3. Search for and select Sleep.
  4. Tap Add Data (top right).
  5. Choose the type of sleep you want to log and set the start and end time.
  6. Tap Add.

After you save the entry in Apple Health, Levels will pull it in automatically. If you don’t see it right away, give it a few minutes and reopen the Levels app.

Android sleep data (via Health Connect)

On Android, sleep must come from a sleep-tracking app or wearable that writes to Health Connect.

  1. Use a sleep app or wearable that supports syncing sleep to Health Connect.
  2. Confirm that sleep data is appearing in Health Connect.
  3. Open Levels and make sure Health Connect is connected with Sleep sharing enabled.

When your sleep app updates Health Connect, Levels will import that sleep and show it on your Timeline.

Troubleshooting

I don’t see sleep entries in Levels

  • Confirm your sleep app or wearable is saving sleep data into Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android).
  • Make sure Sleep is turned on in sharing permissions for Levels.
  • Give it a few minutes after syncing, then reopen the Levels app.

On iPhone, if data is still missing, try adding the night manually in Apple Health using the steps above.
