Bring Your Own Sensors to Levels

You don't need to purchase sensors through Levels to use the app. You can bring your own continuous glucose monitor or biosensor and connect it to Levels for full access to insights, coaching, and all app features. This is called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

Compatible sensors

You can connect the following sensors to the Levels app:

Stelo (direct connection)

  • Stelo biosensors purchased from any source work with Levels.
  • Connect by logging into your Dexcom/Stelo account in the Levels app.
    • Note: This pathway still requires syncing your biosensor through the Levels app.

Dexcom G6 and G7 (via health data sync)

Bringing Stelo biosensors to Levels

Where you can buy Stelo:

  • Online retailers like Amazon
  • Through your healthcare provider
  • Direct from Stelo.com

All Stelo biosensors work with Levels:

No matter where you purchased your Stelo biosensor, you can connect it to the Levels app. There's no difference in functionality between biosensors purchased through Levels and those purchased elsewhere.

How to connect your sensor

For Stelo: Follow the steps in How to Apply and Connect Stelo to the Levels App.

For Dexcom G6 or G7: Follow the steps in How to Sync Your Health Data with Levels.

  • Note: There is a 3-hour delay for glucose data to sync, as required by Dexcom.

Membership requirements

You'll need an active Levels membership to use your own sensors with the Levels app.

What's included:

Sensor costs

When you bring your own sensors, you're responsible for purchasing them separately. Some members choose this option because they:

  • Have insurance coverage for CGMs
  • Can find sensors at a lower cost elsewhere
  • Want to use sensors intermittently rather than continuously

Support and replacements

For biosensors purchased through Levels:

Contact Levels support for technical issues or replacements.

For sensors purchased elsewhere:

  • Levels provides technical support for app connectivity and data syncing
  • For sensor hardware issues or replacements, contact the retailer or manufacturer where you purchased the sensor

Insurance coverage

Some insurance plans may cover continuous glucose monitors like the Dexcom G7 or G6. Check with your insurance provider about:

  • Coverage requirements
  • Prescription requirements
  • Approved vendors or pharmacies
